Shira Leuchter
Shira Leuchter is an award-winning actor, theatre creator, and artist. Much of her work includes performance, live art, and installation. She likes to make performances that invite audiences to imagine new ways for us to be together. She is interested in what happens to a performance if we replace traditional dramatic conflict with collaboration, with an invitation to make something together. She makes most of her work with UnSpun Theatre, including commissions for institutions like Harbourfront Centre and the Gardiner Museum. Shira's live art performance, Lost Together, was awarded the 2018 SummerWorks Production Prize and continues to tour. She is currently making a new multimodal work with her daughter, Calla.
Shira is a graduate of the National Theatre School, and is currently completing her MA in Theatre and Performance Studies at York University. She lives in Tkaronto with her husband Chris Hanratty, with whom she is raising two really cool and funny people. |
